Craig Nolan and Kevin Lumpkin Win Supreme Court Case Upholding Dismissal For Discovery Violations

csnkalAttorneys Craig Nolan and Kevin Lumpkin recently secured a victory in the Vermont Supreme Court in SynEcology Partners L3C v. Business RunTime, et al., successfully arguing that the Court should affirm the trial court’s decision to dismiss the case for discovery violations.

In the trial court, SynEcology Partners failed to comply with the trial court’s discovery orders. Sheehey successfully moved the court for dismissal and also obtained a judgment for attorneys’ fees. In an opinion issued on March 4, 2016, the Vermont Supreme Court unanimously upheld the trial court’s ruling, holding that it acted within its authority to dismiss the case.

Attorney Renee L. Mobbs Joins The Firm

Renee L. MobbsSheehey is pleased to announce that attorney Renee L. Mobbs joined the firm earlier this month. Renee graduated as Valedictorian of her St. Michael’s College class in 2005, and received her juris doctorate degree, cum laude, from Vermont Law School in 2009. Renee was a litigation partner at another Vermont law firm before joining Sheehey.

Renee’s practice at Sheehey will focus mainly on litigation, but she also represents clients in banking, healthcare, and probate matters. In addition, Renee assists the firm’s growing energy law group.  Renee is particularly interested in attorney ethics, and has served on the Vermont Bar Association’s Professional Responsibility Committee since 2012.

In 2015 Renee was recognized by Super Lawyers magazine as one of New England’s Rising Stars in civil litigation. She joins four other Sheehey attorneys who have been recognized by Super Lawyers as among the top attorneys in the region.
