ASSOCIATE ATTORNEYS

Litigation Associate – Seeking a litigation associate attorney with 0-3 years of experience in civil and/or criminal litigation.  Qualified candidates should possess a strong academic background, excellent research skills and well-developed oral and written communication skills.  This is an excellent opportunity to work with some of the most experienced litigators in Vermont.

Corporate/Transactions Associate – Seeking a corporate/transactions associate attorney with 3-5 years of experience in transactional and corporate law including: mergers and acquisitions (M&A), commercial real estate, corporate law or secured finance.  A background and familiarity with tax law would be an additional asset.  A successful candidate will have exceptional attention to detail, strong writing and legal research skills with a demonstrated ability to produce high quality legal work.  The Transactions group looks for lawyers with an enthusiastic approach, a strong work ethic and the ability to be a true team player.  The candidate must be admitted to practice in Vermont or be eligible for admission.  Admission to practice in New Hampshire a plus.

Estate Planning Attorney – Requires 1-2 years of experience or academic background in estate planning.  Qualified candidates should possess a strong academic background, excellent research skills and well-developed oral and written communication skills.

Title Search/Real Estate Professional –This unique  position is for either an attorney or paralegal with demonstrated Vermont real estate experience to provide assistance and support in a busy medium-sized firm with a variety of residential and commercial real estate needs.  The position will involve travelling to perform residential and commercial title searches at town clerk’s offices throughout Vermont (mileage reimbursed), preparing reports and opinions on title and drafting property descriptions, working with title insurers and title insurance policies and forms, and researching and analyzing state and municipal permit and compliance issues. The position will also involve drafting conveyance and closing documents, including but not limited to deeds, tax forms, and settlement statements. If the applicant is an attorney, the position may also involve contract negotiation and drafting, conducting closings, and working on other real estate related matters including commercial leasing and permitting. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years’ experience related to title searches/real estate, at least a Bachelor’s Degree, and be detail-oriented and organized with strong communication and writing skills.  Candidates with a law degree but less experience will be considered, provided they have demonstrated skills and experience in conducting title searches.

Director of IT – Sheehey Furlong & Behm, an established, growing law firm located near the Burlington waterfront, is accepting applications for a Director of IT.

The Director of IT will:

  • manage, direct, and implement the firm’s IT operations and infrastructure,
  • provide efficient and effective technologies and technical support services to the end user,
  • provide technical support, tools and guidance to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the firm,
  • lead development and implementation processes for the organizations IT systems and department,
  • collaborate with firm leadership to establish the firm’s technical vision and lead all aspects of the firm’s technological development.

The ideal candidate will have experience in a law firm environment, however it is not a requirement.  Candidates should be familiar with Microsoft Office, document management systems, and email systems.  Preference will be given to candidates familiar with O365, Worldox, Mimecast and other legal industry specific programs and tools such as Relativity, Juris, iPro, and Westlaw.  Salary will be commensurate with experience and will include a comprehensive benefits package. Legal Administrative Assistant – Seeking to hire a motivated individual to provide administrative support to attorneys within several practice groups. Candidates should be detail-oriented while maintaining efficiency and have strong verbal, written, organizational and comprehension skills. Flexibility and the ability to manage multiple projects for multiple attorneys, strong technology skills and a working knowledge of MS Office applications a must. Prior office/business experience or legal/business education is preferred.
