Daphne Moritz Will Present CLE On Guardianships

DaphneSheehey attorney Daphne Moritz will give a presentation on legal ethics as they relate to guardianships at a CLE on September 21, 2016 entitled “Guardianships from Start to Finish.” The CLE will be held at the Best Western Inn and Conference Center in South Burlington, Vermont and will offer 6 hours of credit, including 1 hour of ethics credit. Daphne joined Sheehey earlier this year and she is of counsel to the firm. She primarily practices in the areas of Estates and Trusts and Elder Law, and she is president elect of the Vermont Chapter of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA). She is also a member of the Thompson Senior Center Board in Woodstock. Daphne practices primarily out of the firm’s Woodstock office.

Mark Melendy To Teach CLE On Vermont Trust Code

Mark E. MelendyOn October 7, 2016, Sheehey attorney Mark E. Melendy will lead a discussion entitled “Vermont Trust Code 101” at the 7th Annual Elder Law Summit at Vermont Law School in South Royalton. The event is sponsored by the Vermont Chapter of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, and it will offer 3 hours of continuing legal education to Vermont attorneys. The event will be held from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM, and those interested in attending can register via this form.

Mark was a member of the Vermont Bar committee which drafted the Vermont Trust Code and has over thirty years of practice as a lawyer beginning with work for large international law firms in New York City and Boston. Following his relocation to Vermont in 1992, he was a principal at firms in Brattleboro, Vermont and subsequently in Hanover, NH and Woodstock, Vermont, until this year when he became a shareholder of Sheehey.  His practice focuses largely on estate planning, business succession planning, estate administration and tax planning and he works out of both the Burlington and Woodstock offices.

Daphne Moritz To Present Thompson Center Speaking Series

DaphneSheehey attorney Daphne Moritz will present a three-part speaking series entitled “Spring Clean Your Legal Affairs” at The Thompson Center, a senior living community in Woodstock, beginning on April 19th.  She presented a similar series at The Thompson Center in 2015.  The series will cover a broad range of topics, with individual sessions as follows:
 

  • April 19, 2016:  Your Top Five Essential Estate Planning Documents
  • May 10, 2016:  Long Term Care Planning and Aging Well (Including Residence Options)
  • May 17, 2016:  Advanced Directives and Legacy Letters.

All sessions will begin at 1:00 PM and are open to the public.

Daphne practices out of Sheehey’s Woodstock office, and her practice focuses on estate planning, estate and trust administration, elder law, guardianship, and related matters.
