Michael Furlong joined the firm in 1983 and is a principal of the firm. Michael focuses on business and transactional matters. He provides general representation to a variety of Vermont-based and regional business enterprises. His clients include financial institutions, health care providers, real estate development firms and technology ventures. He represents and advises clients in connection with business organization, mergers and acquisitions, financing transactions, the purchase, sale, development and leasing of commercial real estate, and other business-related matters.

Mr. Furlong is recognized in the peer review publication The Best Lawyers in America for the fields of corporate law and mergers & acquisitions law, New England Super Lawyers for business/corporate law, and is listed in Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business.Michael also holds an AV peer rating, the highest rating attainable, from Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory.

  • Represents Vermont-based lenders in structuring and documenting financing transactions, and represents national lenders in Vermont financing transactions.
  • Represented multiple 501(c)(3) organizations in financings with proceeds of tax-exempt bonds issued by the Vermont Economic Development Authority and the Vermont Housing Finance Agency.
  • Represented Vermont’s only life-care community in its organization and subsequent expansions.
  • Represented a leading Vermont-based information technology firm in its initial organization, subsequent growth through multiple acquisitions, and ultimate sale to a national IT provider.
  • Serves as outside counsel to a number of Vermont physician practice groups.
  • Represented the lead participating broadcaster in the relocation of consolidated broadcast towers on Vermont’s highest mountain.
