Jeffrey Behm joined the firm in 1990 after serving as an Assistant United States Attorney in Washington D.C. and Vermont and as a trial attorney in the Federal Trade Commission’s Bureau of Competition.

Mr. Behm has tried more than one-hundred jury trials and has handled numerous appeals in state and federal courts. Since joining the firm, Mr. Behm has represented clients in the litigation, trials and appeals of a wide variety of civil and criminal matters, including those involving private commercial disputes, government initiated civil actions, antitrust and consumer protection claims, and white collar criminal cases.

Mr. Behm is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, is ranked in the first tier of Vermont’s leading commercial litigation lawyers by Chambers USA Guide to America’s Leading Business Lawyers, and is recognized in Super Lawyers – Corporate Counsel Edition and The Best Lawyers in America in the fields of business and commercial litigation.

Notable Representations:

  • Successfully obtained a preliminary injunction against group action aimed at blocking construction of Vermont’s largest wind generation facility
  • Successfully obtained an injunction on behalf of shopping center requiring a neighboring landowner to immediately remediate petroleum contamination
  • Successfully defended a hospital against employment contract claims in an arbitration brought on behalf of a group of physician specialists
  • Successfully represented Vermont’s largest electric utility in wrongful death actions and in a multi- million dollar action for breach of a power supply contract against a nuclear plant owner
  • Successfully defended an incumbent local exchange carrier against a national telecommunications provider in a multi-million dollar action seeking to enjoin the enforcement of its tariff provisions in federal court
  • Obtained summary judgment in representation of a health insurer in a breach of contract action brought by its former CEO
  • Represented one of Vermont’s largest healthcare providers in connection with a combined state and federal investigation concerning alleged misrepresentations to regulators and lenders in connection with a $350 million construction project
  • Successfully defended a physician and his practice against billing-related federal criminal charges, securing an acquittal after a three-month jury trial
  • Represented a variety of clients, including banks, landline and cellular telecommunications providers, and commercial lessors in connection with state allegations of unfair and deceptive acts and practices
