Owen McClain Sleeps Out For Charity With Vermont Gas Systems

On Saturday, December 2nd, Sheehey attorney Owen McClain joined a team of fundraisers from Vermont Gas Systems to sleep out by the Otter Creek Falls in Middlebury to raise money and awareness for homelessness. Together, they raised over $13,000 to benefit John Graham Housing & Services, an Addison County non-profit organization dedicated to providing food, shelter, and housing to the homeless. The low temperature on Saturday night was 28° Fahrenheit.

This is the second consecutive year that Owen has participated in the sleep-out with a team from Vermont Gas. This year, Vermont Gas was recognized as the “Top Team” for the fundraiser and Owen was recognized as the “Top Fundraiser.”

Renee Mobbs Becomes a Principal and Director of the Firm

Renee L. MobbsThe firm is pleased to announce that Renee L. Mobbs has become a shareholder and director of the firm. Renee joined the firm Of Counsel in January 2016. Her practice focuses on civil and probate litigation, banking/financial services, and health care law. She also works with the firm’s energy and commercial transactions groups. In both 2015 and 2016, Renee was recognized by Super Lawyers magazine as one of New England’s Rising Stars in litigation.

Renee joined the firm Of Counsel in January 2016. Prior to joining the firm, Renee was a partner at another Vermont law firm, where her practice focused on civil and probate litigation. She also represented the firm’s banking and healthcare clients.

Renee attended St. Michael’s College, where she studied English. She graduated summa cum laude and Valedictorian of the Class of 2005. Renee then worked for a prominent local law firm for a year before enrolling at Vermont Law School. She graduated cum laude and received a Juris Doctor degree as well as a Certificate in General Practice from VLS in May 2009.

Walter A. McCarthy Joins The Firm As An Associate Attorney

Sheehey is happy to welcome Walter A. McCarthy as a new associate attorney.  Walt joined the firm earlier this year, and he practices primarily with the firm’s transactional team, working on real estate, corporate, and banking matters.  Walt is a 2016 graduate of Albany Law School, and has prior experience working for GE Ventures, American National, and the Real Property Bureau of the Office of the New York State Attorney General.
