Sheehey Welcomes Paralegal Audrey Robinson

Sheehey is pleased to announce that Audrey E. Robinson has joined the firm as a paralegal.  Ms. Robinson brings more than 25 years of experience in civil litigation and commercial transactions, and she will primarily assist the firm’s litigation team.  Ms. Robinson began her career as a legal administrative assistant in Washington, D.C. before becoming a paralegal in Vermont in 1988.  Prior to joining Sheehey, Ms. Robinson worked as a paralegal with a law firm in Burlington for 13 years.

Ian Carleton Presents At Seminar On Advanced Trial Tactics

ian-p-carletonOn June 25, 2015, Sheehey partner Ian Carleton presented at a seminar on advanced trial tactics sponsored by the National Business Institute.  Mr. Carleton spoke alongside prominent Vermont trial attorneys Kerry DeWolfe and Marc Heath, discussing effective cross-examination, jury instructions, and closing arguments.  He also led a round table discussion about litigation tactics.

Mr. Carleton joined Sheehey in 2003 and is a principal of the firm.  He is a 1999 graduate of Yale Law School and has extensive experience litigating both civil and criminal cases in state and federal court.

President Obama Nominates Eric Miller for U.S. Attorney Position

eric-s-millerOn Thursday, President Obama nominated Sheehey attorney Eric Miller to fill the position of U.S. Attorney for the District of Vermont.  Senator Leahy recommended Mr. Miller for the position in February. Mr. Miller has practiced at Sheehey since 1999, and he has been a principal and shareholder of the firm since 2002.  His practice covers a broad range of criminal and civil matters in state and federal court, at both the trial and appellate levels.

In a press release, Senator Leahy stated:

I have been impressed with Eric’s thoughtfulness, vision and depth of experience. I consulted prosecutors, defense attorneys, judges, law enforcement officials and civic leaders throughout Vermont.  They were unanimous in their support for Eric, and I was proud to recommend him to the President.  I am confident that he will make an excellent United States Attorney for Vermont. I appreciate the White House’s prompt action toward filling this important vacancy and will work hard to ensure a prompt confirmation process.
